Pantry Challenged: 4 INGREDIENT NACHO CHEESE SAUCE
Here’s a super easy cheese sauce you can throw together in about 5 minutes. My kids like it just like this but you could adult-it-up by adding optional extras like chili powder, cayenne, jalapeños, olives, green onions or tomatoes.
Perfect for nacho chips, a dip for veggies or a cheesy sauce over pasta!
4-Ingredient Nacho Cheese Sauce
Makes about 2 cups
Ingredients
2 Tablespoons butter
2 Tablespoons flour
1 cup of milk
2 cups shredded cheese (I like to use a Mexican 4-blend but you can use cheddar, Monterey Jack or American as well.)
salt and pepper to taste
Directions
In a medium saucepan, over medium heat, melt butter. Whisk in flour stirring constantly. Once mixture starts to bubble, continue to cook for 1 minute.
Whisk in milk and allow to simmer. The mixture will thicken.
When it’s thick enough to coat a spoon, turn heat to low and add cheese. Continue to whisk, cheese will melt quickly. As soon as cheese is fully melted, remove from heat.
Season to your taste with salt and pepper and any add-ins you want.
If cheese becomes a bit thick, whisk in an extra splash of milk to thin out.
