DOLLY PARTON'S HEARTSTRINGS
Finally, I can share with you this incredible project I’m so darn proud of. I hope you’ll join me for what’s going to be an amazing ride!
I’m beyond lucky to be surrounded by such talented, kind, empowering women on this gig! This role reunites me professionally with one of my dearest friends Lisa Melamed, who wrote our episode of Heartstrings titled “Crackerjack”. Her script is a dream and wait till you hear her beautiful words!
Our director is the extraordinary Liesl Tommy whose smart and loving vision for this is just so heartwarming. Working with her has changed my life!
Then there are my 3 beautiful cast-sisters Tammy Lynn, Rochelle and Sarah. You’ll fall in love with them as much as I have when this comes out.
And a huge thank you to our Queen, Dolly Parton. I’ve been floating ever since you welcomed me into your kind and talented world. Thank you for your incredible generosity.
I can’t wait for you all to see our show later this year on Netflix. I’ll keep you posted on details as they come. Here’s a couple of the announcements that came out this week…
From Deadline…
“Oscar winners Melissa Leo and Ray McKinnon and Emmy winners Jessica Collins, Camryn Manheim, Timothy Busfield, and Patricia Wettig are among 19 new castings for Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings, an anthology based on the stories and inspirations behind Parton’s most beloved songs.
Each episode will begin with an introduction by Parton talking/singing to the camera (as herself) about the meaning behind each song.
Produced by Magnolia Hill Productions and Sandollar Productions in association with Warner Bros Television for Netflix, Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings will premiere this year, exact date TBD. Executive producers include Sam Haskell, Parton and Patrick Sean Smith (who also serves as showrunner).”
From Variety…
“Sarah Shahi, Rochelle Aytes, Jessica Collins and Tammy Lynn Michaels star in “Cracker Jack” from writer Lisa Melamed and director Liesl Tommy. This one is a dual story through two time periods about “the power of unconditional love.” The past storyline focuses on a girl and her dog, while in the present, that same girl, now a woman, question what her life means and who she can truly count on when she is faced with her greatest fear.
