HOMEMADE FRUIT ROLL-UPS

Jem and I made these yesterday and had so much fun! Only 3 ingredients and even better than the store-bought ones I ate most of my 80’s childhood.

You can get fancy and remove the finished fruit roll-ups from parchment and re-wrap in craft paper and tie with a string- but honestly we ate all of ours before we could get to that step!

Homemade Fruit Roll-Ups

Makes about 8-10 rolls

Ingredients

3 cups fresh strawberries or other fruit of your choosing like raspberries, blueberries, mangos or peaches. You can also use frozen fruit, just be sure to defrost and drain any excess water before using.

2 Tablespoons honey or sweetener of your choosing like sugar, maple syrup or stevia

1 teaspoon lemon juice (this keeps your fruit it’s bright color)

Directions

Preheat your oven to its lowest temperature. Most ovens will be between 150-180 degrees. Mine is 150 degrees.

In a blender or food processor, puree fruit, honey and lemon juice until completely smooth. Taste and adjust with a little more sweetener if needed. This will all depend on how sweet your fruit is to begin with.

Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.

Pour fruit puree onto baking sheet and spread to 1/8 thickness.

Place in oven and cook on lowest temperature for anywhere from 4-7 hours. (Ours was done in 5 hours in a 150 degree oven.)

Fruit roll-ups are ready when no longer sticky to touch and you can peel a tiny corner up off the parchment paper.

Allow to cool and cut into 2-3 inch strips. Roll up or keep straight, flat strips. You can also get creative and cut any shapes you want really… have fun, it’s a fruit roll-up! :)

Fruit roll-ups can be stored at room temperature in an airtight container or baggie for at least a week.
